The Medical Faculty of the University of Bern is one of the largest in Switzerland with about 2,100 students in Bachelor, Master and further education programs (CAS, DAS, MAS). The research environment covers a broad spectrum from basic research in the pre-clinical institutions and the Department of Biomedical Research (DBMR, providing centralized infrastructure and technical support), to translational (Swiss Institute for Translational and Entrepreneurial Medicine, SITEM; Bern Center for Precision Medicine) and clinical research (Department of Clinical Research, DCR).
The Department of Neurology at the University Hospital Inselspital Bern, University of Bern is the largest neurological department in Switzerland. With a large catchment area all neurological diseases are diagnosed and treated on all levels of care, starting from primary prevention, emergency medicine, outpatient and inpatient care to neurorehabilitation. The department is committed to clinical, translational and basic research and aims to combine clinical practice with basic research in a multidisciplinary fashion.
