Hello! I am Beatrice Di Lelio (ESR1), currently undertaking a PhD as part of the Bio2Brain project at Fraunhofer IGB in Stuttgart. In February 2024, I seized the opportunity to relocate to Altforweiler to extend an ongoing collaboration with MyBiotech, under the guidance of Dr. Nazende Günday Türeli. Following comprehensive training in the company’s research methodologies, I delved into the production and characterization of nanoparticles, gaining valuable insights into the nuances between academic and industrial workflows.
During my stay, I collaborated closely with Selin Akpinar (ESR3), who graciously shared her expertise and provided invaluable guidance on her research and daily operations. Together, we focused on encapsulating nanoparticles in a chitosan matrix through spray-drying, leveraging my existing expertise to enhance our endeavors, and producing insulin-loaded nanoparticles.
Amidst our rigorous work schedule, the MyBiotech team fostered a supportive and friendly atmosphere, allowing for moments of relaxation outside the laboratory. Exploring the charming city of Saarbrücken, the regional capital, and venturing to neighboring countries like Luxembourg enriched my experience beyond the confines of research.
I would like to thank the entire MyBiotech team, particularly Dr. Nazende Günday Türeli and Cemre Günday, for their unwavering scientific support, and to Selin for her exceptional training and ongoing encouragement throughout our collaboration in Altforweiler and beyond.
Departing Altforweiler, I carry with me not only enhanced expertise in my field but also a renewed determination to pursue a career in the pharmaceutical industry.
